With my porcelain creations, I seek to meditate on nature and confront it, even though I know that I will not be able to overcome it.
The technique used is called zinc crystallizations. It allows creating, as the poet says, ” the sheet of a zinc sky “, in which, camouflaged, all my concerns, concerns and desires converge. On ” background burnished pale gray “, as on the surface of porcelain burnished with precious stones, I expand mineral enamel; and after a cooking process that reaches 1300º C, ” distant flocks of birds stain the bottom ” of the piece.
As a result, a dreamlike and aquatic world arises before me, a symphony in greater gray, but full of notes and colors, ” the sea like a vast crystal “, uncontrollable, wild, spontaneous and hostile, but, at the same time, fascinating , hypnotic and enigmatic.
The crystalline enamels are prepared by the ceramist with natural oxides and minerals. During the firing process, which reaches up to 1300C, the oxides crystallize and adopt geometric and organic forms. The technique, playing with high temperatures and thermal shocks, manages to reproduce the crystallization processes typical of nature, such as the freezing of water or the crystallization of volcanic matter.
The pieces are made of porcelain, with the pinch technique and with the lathe.
